Weights & Measurements:

  • 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon
  • 2 tablespoons = 1/8 cup
  • 4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup
  • 8 tablespoons = 1/2 cup
  • 12 tablespoons = 3/4 cup
  • 16 tablespoons = 1 cup
  • 1 cup = 8 fluid ounces
  • 1 cup = 1/2 pint
  • 2 cups = 1 pint
  • 4 cups = 1 quart
  • 4 quarts = 1 gallon
  • 1 litre = 2.1 pints
  • 1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds
  • 28.3 grams = 1 ounce
  • 6 ounces = 3/4 cup
  • 8 ounces = 1 cup
  • 1 stick of butter = 1/3 cup = 4 ounces

Substitutions:

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch = 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour = 1 cup + 2 tablespoon sifted cake flour
  • 1 square of chocolate = 3 tablespoons cocoa + 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder = 1/4 teaspoon baking soda + 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup milk = 1/2 cup evaporated milk + 1/2 cup water
